For the first time in American Idol history, the show of yesterday saw a decrease in viewers of approximately 15 percent. Apparently a lot of people expected it to be not good at all, thus they just skipped watching it completely. It still beat the rating above Paula Abdul's dance show.
The second place that American Idol 2011 visited was New Orleans. They start out the show with a guy playing the piano and doing a terrible performance, They announce that he just auditioned and that he didn't get to go to Hollywood.
After Steven Tyler got a new chair because his chair was broken they could start the auditions. The first contestant was Jordan Dorsey a music teacher, Jennifer said she got goose bumps all over her body. They didn't want to comment on him, they just said yes.
Najsha Palmer was the next contestant and she sounded terrible, Followed by several other people that should not have auditioned.
Big Lipped Sarah Sellers gave a rough rendition of a song, but there is potential in her voice, but will need a lot of work. Steven liked her voice. Randy Jackson liked her voice too, and Jennifer Lopez said it was the best voice she had heard that day.
Jovany Barreto sings a foreign song. Jennifer said he has a very powerful voice. Steven said he really liked his voice. He gets three yesses from the judges. Afterwards he shows his abs to Jennifer as it was a bet with his friends, Steven and Randy joined showing their "abs". Amazingly Steven's Abs aren't "That Bad" according to Curlio.
The next contestant brought in some old pictures from Randy Jackson. She reveals that she got those because her uncle was Randy's old Coach. He walks into the audition room and they talk a little. Jacquelyn Dupree has a very powerful voice. Randy agreed with that statement. She gets a pass to Hollywood from all three judges.
Red head 16 year old Brett Loewenstern was always picked on in school. He came to the conclusion that he should be himself and that he is happy with himself and that it doesn't matter what other people think of him. He sings Bohemian Rhapsody, A song that most people fail singing, however he isn't trying to immitate Freddy Mercury which makes his performance sound quite good. Steven said he was fabulous. Randy said he nailed the audition. He of course gets to go to Hollywood.
They show a set of people that passed then it's followed by Gabriel Franks. He decided to sing Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance". Someone should have told him that choosing a song that has a lot of computer alterations might not be the wisest choice you could do for an audition. Not surprisingly all judges agreed that he should definately not go through to Hollywood.
They show a lot of stupid people with weird outfits and contestants singing really really bad.
The next guy is Alex Attardo and he attended Idol Camp when he was 15 years old. He clearly is tone deaf and is not a poster boy that people should attend Idol Camp. Randy said that they might have to cancel that camp. Steven said he was way off the melody. Randy said it was really really terrible.
15 year old Jacee Badeaux looks and sounds like he is 12 years old. He got a decent voice, but I don't think his voice went through change yet, and in my opinion isn't ready for the American Idol stage. Steven said he sang good. All three give him a yes and he's going to Hollywood where in my opinion he will fail.
The next contestant; Paris Tassin, got pregnant at 18 years old, and is followed by a sad story about how something went wrong in her pregnancy. She sang a Carrie Underwood song, which in my opinion is not the smartest thing to do as you make them compare the contestant with a previous contestant. Jennifer said it brought tears to her eyes and that she felt the emotion in the song. She gets a pass to Hollywood by unanimous vote.
37 Contestants from New Orleans managed to get a ticket to Hollywood. Next week will be Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
