American Idol named the first three people to their Top 12 tonight. Nine of the American Idol hopefuls were eliminated with no hint of who might make it to the wildcard show.
Our results show started with host Ryan Seacrest telling us that there was an unprecedented 24 million votes. That is 10 million votes more than last year at this time. Ryan asked the judges about yesterday's performances. Randy Jackson said that some people stepped up while others faltered. Kara Dioguardi thought it was a good show though some disappointed. She named Stevie, Casey and Stephen as disappointments before adding Simon. Paula Abdul agreed that Simon disappointed. Ryan told them it was about during the show not after, then he asked Simon Cowell to judge Kara's performance. He thought she was amazing.
A recap of our idol journey so far came before we were treated to a hot steaming mess of a group performance. They tried to sing and dance to "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz. It didn't work. They can't sing together and they are worse at dancing than singing. What will they do with the blind guy for group performances?
After a commercial, Ryan treats us to a recap of last night's crappy performances. Even in recap mode they sounded terrible. Then we have a chat with the contestants. Jackie Tohn would rate her performance an A- or B+. Anoop Desai said that everyone is relaxed now, looking forward to seeing if America thinks they are worthy. He then admitted he's never been more nervous in his life. Tatiana Del Toro just wants to keep her dream a live. Stevie Wright is proud she got this far but still confused by the judges. She wants to know if she should sing older songs or younger songs.
First up for results was Casey Carlson. She knows now she should have picked a better song. She is right, as she isn't in the Top 12.
Stephen Fowler might have picked the wrong song, but wanted to show a different side of himself. He should have stuck with the side that we saw before 'cause he was out too.
First into the Top 12 was the Cheap Crack Ho, Alexis Grace. She sang her song from last night again, "Never Loved a Man." She was much better now that I wasn't distracted by the Cheap Crack Ho' look.
We're apparently running behind as we move to dual results. Ricky Braddy and Jackie Tohn get their results at the same time. Jackie disagrees with Simon's comment yesterday that she blew it. Simon says they will see. Simon is right, they are both out.
Next up are Anoop Desai and Michael Sarver. Michael is in the Top 12, Anoop is out. darn, I wanted Anoop to stay. Michael performed his song from last night again, "I Don't Wanna Be."
By the way I'm very disappointed in my Indian voting block. I expected more racial loyalty out of you. After Michael performs, Ryan tells us that only 20,000 votes separated Michael and Anoop. I hope that means the judges will bring Anoop back for the wildcard show. Dusty and I figured that they pretty much blew the final result right here. They tell us that Anoop wasn't far behind Michael. Now we're 99% sure the girls didn't land two in the Top 3 after their dismal performances, so it's two guys in. Since Anoop was so close, that means that Michael was the 2nd guy and we still have the top guy to place into the Top 3 yet.
We then get a clip of the American Idol Experience at Disney World in Orlando. For the premiere all seven winners of American Idol showed up. Then we we treated to the return of Carly Smithson and Michael Johns from last season. Michael has an album coming out in May and a single in a few weeks. They performed "The Letter."
Anne Marie Boskovich, Brent Keith and Stevie Wright were all asked to stand in place, the AI kiss of death. Randy didn't think any of them lived up to their potential. He's right, they're all out.
That leaves us with Danny Gokey and Tatiana Del Toro. Tatiana, thankfully, couldn't talk. Paula said it's hard to say who would go on as you can't take anything for granted with this show. Then she picked Danny as the one going on. We'll find out who goes on after the break. After the break, Ryan asks Tatiana what the psychics say now. Tatiana said it's up to America and talent and faith now. Ryan asks Danny what he's thinking. He just wants it over with. So do I! Danny is through to the Top 12! He performs "Hero" again. They show someone from Danny's family/friends holding up a picture of Danny and his late wife, which makes me burst into tears.
I just have to say now that I think they were horrible to Tatiana. I know I hate her too, but even I think they were rude to her. After watching her auditions and Hollywood week she must have figured out that she was there mostly for the drama. She knew being saved for last tonight was just for the drama. Then Ryan has to rub it in with the dig about the psychics? Come on, I know she's annoying and all but give the girl a break.
Next week's performers will be:
Megan Corkrey
Kris Allen
Mishavonna Henson
Matt Breitzke
Allison Iraheta
Matt Giraud
Jasmine Murray
Kai Kalama
Jesse Langseth
Adam Lambert
Jeanine Vailes
Nick Mitchell/Norman Gentle
Well i am not surprised by the results i really liked michael sarver he is a good guy and likable anoop desai is likable however i liked michael sarver more than anoop. As for anoop there is still hope there is a wild card coming and he will be a shoe in .As for tatiana i liked her i fell sorry for her that she narrowly missed out but thre is still a chance for the wildcard.
The worst performance of last night is stevie wright it was just a nightmare and based on that i don't think she is deserving in thr top 36.Lacey brown ,Jen krooger
shena lawrence, devon baldwin and ashley hollister are more desrving than stevie.I am not also happy with casey carlson she is very lousy last night.
Overall i am happy for america they voted right person
danny, alexis and michael are desrving well done america.
Why do people have to feel sorry for the little drama queen?. She really put this "We can't stand her" view from us American Idol Fans upon herself. Tough Luck for her...
I have to say...Now I really look forward to a professionel and a much more appreciated show to watch. Thank You.

Everyone should understand that Curlio is likely calling Alexis Grace a "cheap crack ho" because she's showing her 2 y/o child on tv. They don't take too kindly of contestants bringing their children and displaying them on idol so get used to it.
You've been here since Season 3 haven't you? As Amylou said (and she's right) I was actually referring to her look from Tuesday's performances. I thought she looked cute during the auditions and Hollywood rounds. But Tuesday the short loose womanty black dress combined with her pale skin and made for a bad combination under the lights. The overall look was that of a Cheap Crack Ho'.
There's a difference between a stay-at-home mom who is planning to marry her boyfriend when he's back from military school and a single mom who pimps her kid for votes at every opportunity. Time has shown I was right about Fantasia
I am dissapointed that Anoop did not make it. Michael was definetely not better than him.he just got the sympathy vote since he has a wife and kid and is a blue collar worker..that is not fair to people with talent..this is a talent show not a sympathy vote show!
danny is terrific!!!!!!!!!!!!!! anoop has to be a wildcare! alexis cleaned up her act so i applaud her for that bacause she was fantastic. ricky should have been chosen instead of michael but i do like michael as well.
Have you looked into the Eye's of Alexis Grace ?????
I see " Hello Mr. President " I'm sure you have seen it in her eye's also. You must remember the 1960's !!!!!!!
Although I do like her voice. Just my first impression, maybe she will change my mind.....
I would have preferred Ricky Braddy over Michael Sarver. Not having been exposed to the TV audience in the weeks coming to last Tuesday was Ricky Braddy's disadvantage over Michael Sarver even though I believe he is a better singer.
Can somebody clarify the wild card process? Are the remaining singers going to perform again during Wild Card Night and the judges will choose three after? I suspect that will not be the case because there will be 27 left and there is no way they can all perform at Wild Card Night. Likewise, will one be chosen from each group of remaining nine singers or will the three be chosen from the combined pool of 27?
Michael Sarver represents a serious problem with American Idol. He's a guy who impresses you in his first audition because you expect him to be terrible. Then you start realizing he's something completely different than you though he was, and massive disappointment follows, and ratings take a hit. He's karaoke. And people just refuse to admit it. His performance was terrible both Tuesday, and on his sing off with the other guy in Hollywood and the judges should have got rid of them both that day.
The choices were pretty good Danny and Alexis Grace.. MIchael just so so.. Next week I already have the best.. No need to watch.. Adam, Matt and Megan Corkerey.. Take it to the bank folks..
It maybe sound so terrible, but I am glad Tatiana is gone. I can stand her; she keeps laughing like a hyena. Simon was right that she was deperate want to be famous. She is so overacting and annoying.
ANOOP DESAI has the voice/talent, the confidence, the true role-model ability, the stage presence--- and season 8 would be same-ol' same-ol' without him. Every single one of his performances have made you smile! Danny Gokey is a good singer but he's another one who sounds like the other one--- very common in the music market---common voice---sounds like David Cook. Judges, bring 'm 'n!!--- then sit back and be blown away!
